Custom CRMs
Prepared with the exact same equipment, methodology and level of care as our OREAS® range
Can’t find what you’re looking for in the OREAS® range? Contact us today about custom (matrix-matched) CRMs produced from client supplied materials or select from our extensive library of in-house materials to match the geology of your project. CRMs can be prepared in batch sizes from 100kg to 12,000kg, packed in unit sizes from 5g to 200kg (± inert gas) and certified in a rigorous round robin program for your analytes of interest.
Our Custom CRM clients include all major international mining houses (BHP Billiton, Vale, Anglo American, Rio Tinto, Glencore, Newmont, Barrick, Freeport, Gold Fields, Gold Corp, MMG, Newcrest, Harmony, etc.), numerous mid-tier and junior miners and explorers and the major commercial laboratory groups (ALS, SGS, Bureau Veritas, Intertek and Actlabs, etc.).
Source materials include:
  • Laboratory pulp residues
  • Laboratory coarse rejects
  • Exploration drill samples (RC cuttings and DD cores)
  • Surface, pit or underground samples
  • Downstream metallurgical products (concentrates, tailings, floats, etc)
Batch sizes can range from 100kg to 12,000kg packed in unit sizes from 5g to 200kg (± inert gas). The grades of CRMs can be tailored to suit your requitements by combining high grade and barren/low grade material in appropriate proportions and can include pigeon pairs if required.
In some instances, larger batches (>200kg) can be less expensive on a cost per unit basis than their off-the-shelf (OREAS range) equivalents. Where budgets are limited, Custom CRMs can sometimes be developed jointly with OREAS P/L. This has proven to be a mutually beneficial arrangement on numerous occasions for junior, mid-tier and major mining companies alike. Contact us today to learn more about this process.
We have extensive experience in the preparation and certification of a diverse range of Custom CRMs including gold, gold-silver, gold-copper-(molybdenum), copper, copper-gold-uranium, copper-molybdenum, iron, nickel sulphide and laterite, zinc oxide, Zn-Pb-Ag sulphide and oxide, polymetallic (Au-Cu-Zn-Pb-Ag), platinum group elements, tungsten, uranium, Rare Earth Elements (REE), manganese, phosphate, copper concentrates, gold gravity circuit concentrates, polymetallic concentrates (Zn-Pb-Ag, Cu-Au(Ag), Ni-Co), tailings and related metallurgical materials, tin, molybdenum, chromium, phosphorous, lithium, graphite, niobium-tantalum, multi-element lithogeochem and barren (blank) materials.
Our automated packaging machines produce single-use units made from an extremely robust packaging medium of high barrier foil film for an effective long-term barrier to oxygen and moisture. The single-use packets are easy to use and greatly reduce the risk of contamination during sub-sampling.  Labelling is optional and incorporates print media that are easily erasable with common household solvents. Packing under inert gas is routine for reactive materials (e.g. sulphides) ensuring long term stability.
We offer vacuum packaging, wide mouth plastic jars, plastic buckets and 44 Gallon (166L) steel drums as specified below.
  • Single use packets (laminated foil packets): 5g to 250g
  • Vacuum packaging (plastic ‘barrier’ bags): 500g to 10kg
  • Wide mouth plastic jars: 500g to 2.5kg
  • Plastic buckets: 10kg to 20kg
  • Steel drums (44 Gallon; 166L): 100kg to 150kg (depending on density)
The analytical characterisation programs of Custom CRMs are tailored to the specific needs of our clients within budget considerations. Certification is undertaken in accordance with ISO guidelines with access to the best analytical facilities and methods available through our unique relationships with leading laboratories worldwide. Certification can be structured around single or multiple submission round robins and can include Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) treatment to evaluate within and between-unit homogeneity.
Certificate of Analysis documentation is comprehensive and includes Certified Values, Performance Gates (SD’s), 95% Confidence Intervals, 95% Tolerance Intervals, graphical analysis and tabulation of all results.
